Head Massage at Hair By Aj Design

It sounds divine doesn’t it? A real treat. But actually Head Massage isn’t simply a ‘treat’ the benefits are really rather crucial and can assist with a variety of physical and emotional problems and concerns. Here’s a few of them:

1. Helps Prevent Migraines, Headaches and Back Pain
Often tension in the upper back, neck and head can lead to migraines, headaches and back pain which can make for uncomfortable living on a day to day basis and sometimes even lead to depression.

2. Promotes Hair Growth
The massage increases nourishment and oxygen to the scalp and hair follicle which in turns stimulates hair growth. It’s a one way ticket to long, luscious locks!

3. Detoxifies The Body By Stimulating Lymphatic Drainage
Head Massage stimulates and improves lymphatic drainage and blood flow to the neck thus helping to remove waste products from the body.

4. Relieves Sleeplessness, Restlessness and Insomnia
These are often side-effects of stress and Head Massage will immediately relieve stress and promote relaxation by attacking the physical symptoms, thus allowing for a deeper sense of well being and relaxation and opening your body to better rest.

5. Relieves symptoms of anxiety and depression. Massaging the head encourages the supply of oxygen to the brain which is one of the best ways of reducing anxiety and of lifting one’s mood. Oxygen helps you think clearly and creatively and a similar effect is experienced through exercise.

6. Renews Energy Levels
A Head Massage works with the Aliphatic concept which goes beyond the limits of healing and places emphasis on balance. Working on the chakras through Indian Massage has a powerful effect in bringing the energy of the body back into balance.

7. Boosts Memory Capabilities
Often we have short-term memory difficulties because our brains are overloaded with disorganised thoughts, making it very difficult for us to efficiently ‘log’ and collect thoughts and occurrences.
Head Massage slows us down, sensual awareness takes over, thoughts quieten and awareness is brought to the forefront. Think of it like someone pressing your ‘reset’ button.

• Coconut Oil
Perhaps the most commonly known (and used) oil .Coconut oil has a sweet but strong odour that does not sit well with many people. But this type of oil is great for those who have dry or damaged hair. Coconut oil provides lubrication to the hair shafts and is believed to induce lustre in the hair. It is also useful in the treatment of psoriasis. For those who have fine hair particularly susceptible to greying and thinning, coconut oil works very well as it has natural cooling properties.

• Almond Oil
The next commonly available, after coconut oil, almond oil is also very useful for dry hair. It is more intense than coconut oil and so can treat even the driest piece of hair. Besides it is also useful to soothe aches and pains as well as calming nerves. Thin, dry and frizzy hair with plenty of split ends is what almond oil works best on.

• Mustard Oil
We know what you’re thinking – ewww. Mustard oil is so strong, people will smell you from a kilometre away. Yet we say that you should give it a shot – if not very often, then maybe once a month. Mainly used in the north west parts of the country, mustard oil is particularly suitable for the cold winter months. This is because mustard oil generates heat and is responsible for stimulating circulation and soothing sore and tense muscles as well as relaxing the scalp and increasing pliability. Being so strong in itself, mustard oil does not need any added herbs.

• Sesame Oil
A scalp nourisher, sesame oil also reduces stiffness and tightness in the scalp. It is also widely used, especially by people with thin, dry and split ends-heavy hair. Sesame oil moisturises the hair and also relieves the scalp of aches and pains. Mix it with some brahmi or hibiscus herbs for added benefits.

• Olive Oil
It is now being commonly used for kids and is particularly useful for those with very thick and oily hair. Olive oil also has purifying properties that keep pores open and can be mixed with neem, which is a good cleanser, before being applied to the hair.

• Jasmine Oil
The number one oil for dealing with stress and tension, jasmine oil is also an anti-depressant and antiseptic. It can make your hair thicker and healthier. However, jasmine oil in its concentrated form can be very harmful and hence needs to be mixed with another light oil like almond or olive before applying to the scalp.
